TURTLE CAKE | |
1 German chocolate cake mix 1 bag (14 oz.) caramels 1/2 c. evaporated milk 3/4 c. butter 1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. chopped pecans (or walnuts) TOPPING: 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate sq. 2 tbsp. melted butter 2 tbsp. corn syrup 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar 3 tbsp. milk Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour 1/2 of batter into 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Melt caramels and butter with evaporated milk and pour over baked cake. Sprinkle chips and nuts over caramel mixture. Pour remaining batter on top and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and add topping. Topping: Melt chocolate squares. Mix with melted butter, corn syrup, vanilla, confectioners' sugar and milk. Beat and pour over cool cake. This weighs a ton, but it's sinfully rich and delicious! |
