1 c. butter
1 c. oil
1 c. sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt

Thoroughly cream vegetable oil, butter and both sugars. Add vanilla and eggs and salt. Stir in rest of ingredients and blend well. Roll into balls. Place on baking sheets and press down with fork. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake about 12 minutes at 375 degrees. makes 8 dozen.
