GRANDMA'S APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 cube butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. applesauce
2 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 c. nuts & raisins (opt.)

Cream butter, sugar, eggs, spices, salt, baking powder, and baking soda until real light and fluffy. Add applesauce and mix well. Add flour and stir just enough to moisten well. Add nuts and raisins if you like. Bake 1 hour. Check with toothpick until it comes out clean. Let cool in pan about 10 minutes. (This recipe can make 2 sheet cakes or 2 to 3 large loaf pans.)
