PERFECT APPLE PIE | |
6-8 tart apples, pared, cored & thin sliced (6 c.) 3/4-1 c. sugar 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour 1/2-1 tsp. cinnamon Dash nutmeg Pastry for 9" (2-crust) pie 2 tbsp. butter If apples lack tartness, sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon lemon juice. combine sugar, flour, spices and dash salt; mix with apples. Line 9" pie plate with pastry. Fill with apple mixture; dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cutting slits for steam to escape; seal. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes or until done. Or use 2 (1 lb. 4 oz.) cans pie sliced apples, drained. |
