ICE CREAM TORTE 
1 1/2 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream
1 (4 oz.) pkg. German chocolate
1/4 tsp. salt
3/ c. sugar
3/4 c. butter (1/2 c. butter in sauce)
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. evaporated milk

Mix crushed vanilla wafers with 1/4 cup melted butter. Spread in 9x13 pan and pat in place.

Lay slices of the 1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream on top of this. Put into freezer while fudge sauce is being made.

Combine milk, chocolate, salt, sugar and butter. Bring to a boil - boil for 4 minutes while stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Cool until warm and pour over prepared wafers and ice cream. Freeze and top with Cool Whip before serving.
