BASBOUSSA (MIDDLE EASTERN
DESSERT)
 
1 container sour cream (according to quantity you desire)
1 equal amount of sugar
1 equal amount of regular cream of wheat
1 tsp. baking powder

SYRUP:

2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1/2 lime

Syrup should be made first so it is cool when pan is done. Mix sugar and water on medium flame until all sugar is dissolved. Then add lime and simmer for about 20 minutes on low flame. Let cool.

Mix sour cream, sugar, cream of wheat and baking powder. Pour in greased 9x13 inch pan and bake at 375 degrees until top is golden brown. Pour cool syrup immediately over the hot pan. Do not refrigerate but keep cool.
