BEEF STROGANOFF 
1 1/2 lb. sirloin steak, trimmed, cut in strips
4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 tsp. beef stock base
2 tsp. onion powder
2 c. hot water
2 tsp. flour
1 tbsp. cold water
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. dill weed

Brown meat in butter. Season with salt and pepper. When meat is brown, add mushrooms. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Dissolve beef stock and onion powder in hot water and pour over meat. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender. Stir occasionally. mix flour with cold water, stir into meat. When thick, blend in sour cream and dill weed. Serve hot over noodles.

DIETITIAN'S NOTE:

This classic dish is a treat for company dinners as well as for family meals. To decrease fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories try browning the beef in 1 tablespoon of canola oil and use Land O'Lake light sour cream. You will never miss the fat.
