Mix 1 cup oatmeal with 1 1/4 cups hot water and let stand until the rest of the cake is mixed together.

Mix together: 1 stick butter 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix well and add oatmeal mixture. 1 1/3 c. flour

Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. While baking, make broiled frosting.

BROILED ICING:

1 stick butter
1/4 c. canned milk
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Put butter in saucepan and melt. Add other ingredients. While cake is still warm, frost; put cake under broiler until lightly browned.
