ARLENE'S APPLE PASTRY 
8 to 10 Granny Smith apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 egg yolks
2/3 c. milk
1 c. corn flakes or rice krispies
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1 c. powdered sugar frosting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Peel apples, core and slice. Add sugar and cinnamon. Toss together, coating apples well. Let stand while making the rest.

Mix flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening. Mix egg yolks and milk together and add to flour mixture. Work into dough. Roll out 1/2 of dough and fit in jelly roll pan.

Sprinkle 1 cup corn flakes over dough then cover with apples. Roll out rest of dough for top crust. Use egg white to brush on top of crust. Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour. Frost with 1 cup of powdered sugar frosting.
