MAPLE GLAZED APPLE PIE
6 c. thinly sliced apples, divided
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. crushed gingersnaps
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/4 c. maple syrup
1/4 c. packed brown sugar

Place half the apples in pie crust. Combine sugar, gingersnaps, cinnamon, nuts and butter. Sprinkle half over apples. Top with remaining apples and sugar mixture. Cut slits in top crust and cover lightly with foil. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.

Meanwhile, make syrup of brown sugar and maple syrup; bring gently to a boil. Remove pie from oven; remove foil. Brush syrup over pie and pour excess syrup in slits. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Serve warm. Makes one 9-inch double crust pie.
