CHOCOLATE MARSHMALLOW COOKIES 
1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk
Lg. marshmallows

Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and vanilla and milk, beating well. Add dry ingredients which have been sifted together, and mix well. Roll into 3/4-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 8 minutes (don't overbake).

Remove from oven and place a marshmallow, cut in half, cut side down on top of cookie. Bake 2 minutes longer. Remove from oven and immediately flatten the marshmallow gently with a spatula.

When cookies are cool and marshmallows are set, frost with chocolate frosting.
