RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
3 c. sugar
7 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla flavor
1 bottle (ounce) red food coloring
3 c. cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk

Combine butter, shortening and sugar. Cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla flavor and red food coloring. Combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add dry ingredients (sifted) to creamed mixture, alternately with milk; beat well. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan or three 9-inch cake pans. Bake in preheated oven at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes for pound cake or 25 minutes for layer cake, or until cake tests done.
