COOKY SHEET APPLE SQUARES 
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg

Sift flour and salt together; cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives until particles are the size of peas. Blend in egg and milk quickly with fork, just until flour is moistened. Press into 2 balls; roll out dough for each crust the size of cookie sheet.

FILLING:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. honey
1/4 c. raisins
3 tbsp. flour
6 c. finely sliced apples
1/2 c. chopped English walnuts
Butter

Mix sugar, flour and nutmeg. Over bottom pastry, spread half the apples; sprinkle with sugar mixture. Dot with butter. Drizzle with honey. Sprinkle with nuts and raisins, and add remaining apples. Dot with more butter. Cover with top crust, sealing around edges. Brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar (for glaze). Bake at 375 degrees about 35 minutes. When cool, may be frosted with powdered sugar butter icing and sprinkled with ground nuts.
