1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. chopped dates
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) can of cold beer

Cream shortening and sugar. Add dry ingredients, then add eggs. Mix well, add bananas, nuts, dates and vanilla. Mix well, add beer and blend.

Bake in large loaf pan at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes.
