CHOCOLATE CRUNCH 
2/3 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar
1 pkg. chocolate chips (6 or 12 oz.)
1/2 c. light corn syrup
3 tsp. vanilla
4 c. quick oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped nuts or coconut

Melt butter in large pan. Add syrup, salt, vanilla, sugar and oatmeal. Mix well. With damp spatula, press mixture into well greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch pan (jelly roll pan).

Bake at 425 degrees for 12 minutes. During the last 2 minutes of baking time, sprinkle on the chocolate chips. When they soften take pan from oven and spread chips evenly on top. Sprinkle with nuts or coconut. Cut into squares while warm. Recut when cool. Makes about 48 (1 1/2 inch) squares.
