YAM AND APPLE CASSEROLE
4 med. yams (about 1 3/4 lbs.)
2 med. yellow Delicious apples (3/4 lb.)
1/2 of 1/4 lb. stick butter, cut into thin pats
1/4 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground mace

Scrub yams under cold running water. In a medium saucepan, cover with boiling water; boil, covered, until almost tender, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly and remove skins. Cut into 1/2 inch thick crosswise slices.

Pare and core apples; cut each into 6 rings. Place sweet potatoes and apples in a 1 1/2 quart buttered casserole and sprinkle with brown sugar and mace mixed together. Top with butter pats and bake in 350 degree oven until apples are tender.
