CHERRY FRUIT SWIRL 
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 can cherry pie filling (other fruit filling can be used)
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Blend the sugar, butter, shortening, eggs, extracts, and baking powder in a bowl. Beat at high speed for 3 minutes. Stir in flour and spread 2/3 of the batter in a jelly roll pan, 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches. Spread or drop the pie filling over the batter. Drop the remaining batter over the filling. Bake for about 45 minutes. After cooling, but while still warm, drizzle glaze over the baked swirl. (Don't grease the pan.)

GLAZE:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 to 2 tbsp. milk
Few drops almond extract

Combine ingredients, drizzle over warm baked swirl.
