YUM YUM CAKE 
4 c. tap water
1 box seedless raisins
4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 egg, unbeaten
2 c. sugar
12 tbsp. oil
5 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (8 oz.) can chopped nuts
1 (16 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, drained

Use large pot. Boil raisins in 4 cups water, 3 minutes. Let cool until lukewarm. In same pot add baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, egg, sugar, oil and flour. Mix with spoon, don't use mixer. Then add vanilla, nuts and cherries. Dough should be soft. Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Done when toothpick inserted in center is clean.
