OLD FASHIONED GINGER BREAD 
3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. dark full flavor molasses
1 3/4 c. boiling water
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
2 rounded (not heaping) tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Combine molasses, sugar, spices, shortening, vanilla and salt. Stir until smooth. Combine soda with boiling water and add to mixture. Stir until lukewarm and add flour gradually. Add eggs and beat slightly. If batter is thin add about 3/4 cup more flour (if desired). Bake at 375 degrees until done to touch. BURNS EASILY!
