PASTIES 
4 c. flour
1/2 lb. lard
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
6 - 7 oz. very hot water
5 lb. potatoes, diced
2 lb. ground beef (lean)
3/4 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. diced onion
1 stick butter

Take flour, lard, baking powder and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and mix like pie crust. Add the water. Mix and shape like a log and slice into 9 pieces. Roll out with no flour into squares. Melt butter and mix with remaining ingredients. Fill squares with equal amounts of mixture and fold in half. Bake in pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
