PEANUT BLOSSOM COOKIES 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour
2 c. finely packed brown sugar
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Blend butter, salt, baking powder and flour until fine crumbs form, scraping the bowl often. Add remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth. Shape dough into 1" balls. Roll in granulated sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 9 to 12 minutes at 375 degrees until golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately top each with a Hershey Kiss, pressing firmly so the cookie cracks around the edge. About 8 dozen.
