1/2 c. butter 1/3 c. sugar 1 c. white flour 1 c. whole wheat or rye flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 3/4 c. buttermilk Cream together ole and sugar. Sift together other dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Roll flat with rolling pin to 1/4 inch thickness on lightly floured board. Cut 2 inch rounds. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees until light brown. After all are baked, split each biscuit in half. Place on baking sheet and bake at 250 degrees about 5 minutes or until light brown. Can be frozen. Make about 4 dozen. |
