CHRISTMAS EVE BEAN SOUP 
1 lg. can butter beans
1 lg. can water
1 jar pitted prunes
2 tbsp. Crisco or butter
1 tbsp. flour
1 sm. onion, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

In 5 quart soup pot, heat beans with juice and water. Add 1/2 juice from prunes. In saucepan, brown onions in Crisco-butter. Add flour for thickening, stirring constantly. Gradually add 1 cup of soup mixture, stirring until thick. Add thickening to soup and desired amount of prunes. Salt and pepper to taste. Simmer 1 hour. Serve over noodles.
