1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour

1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. hot water
1/4 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Pastry for 1 (9 inch) pie crust

Mix top part like cake batter, cream fat and add sugar and egg. Add milk alternately with dry ingredients. For lower part, combine sugar and cocoa. Add hot water and vanilla. Line pie plate with pastry. Add lower part first and then pour top part over it. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 40 minutes.
