1 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together. Roll in small balls and roll in sugar. Put on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until light brown and cracked on top. Leave on cookie sheet for awhile - soft to handle. At Christmas I add green and red sprinkles to the sugar.
