CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS 
1 hen
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. melted shortening, or Wesson oil
1 egg, beaten
1/4 to 1/2 c. milk

Cook hen, remove from bone. Mix flour, baking powder, oil, and egg. Add milk slowly up to 1/2 cup until right consistency.

Roll out thin, cut in strips. Drop slowly in boiling chicken broth, so boiling does not stop. Cook until tender. Leave chunks of chicken in broth if desired.
