PICKLED BEETS WITH SLICED ONION 
2 (8 oz.) cans sliced beets
1 c. vinegar
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
Dash clove powder
2 sm. bay leaves
2 thinly sliced sm. onions

Drain beets, reserving 1/2 liquid. Place beets in a bowl. In a pot, combine beet liquid and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes. Pour over beets. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serves 6.
