VELVET HOT CAKES (BREAD CRUMB) 
1 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
2 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt (may omit)
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. sugar
2 eggs

Scald milk with butter added. Pour over crumbs. Stir and let stand until soft and cooled. Add beaten eggs and mix well. Sift flour, measure, add salt, baking powder, sugar, sift again. Add to liquid mix, stir just enough to moisten dry ingredients. Sometimes you need to add a little milk or a little flour to get the right consistency for hot cakes.
