SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. lard (do not substitute other shortening)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. molasses (green label brier)
6 c. flour
2 round tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/2 c. hot coffee
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Mix well and chill overnight before baking, roll firmly thick. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake as they will be hard. (Lard is a must in this recipe.)
