SOFT AND CHEWY OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. raisins
2 c. water
5 cups flour
4 cups old fashioned oats

Bring to boil raisins and 2 cups water; cool for 5 minutes.

Mix all dry ingredients together, then add liquids, then blend in Crisco after all is mixed thoroughly stir in flour and oats.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes about 12 dozen.

This recipe was pretty good. I cut the recipe in half because I just wanted something sweet, as I'm the only one in the family that likes oatmeal cookies. I also cut the Crisco down to 1/2 cup and added 1/4 cup room temperature butter.I did have to let them cool a few minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring them to a cooling rack.
