1 1/2 c. shortening
4 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
4 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, and molasses. Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture. Form dough in a small ball and dip in sugar and bake on ungreased cookie sheet for 8 to 10 minutes, at 375 degrees.
