BISCUITS 
2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/3 c. shortening (Crisco butter flavor)
2/3 to 3/4 c. buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk, and mix until dough follows the fork around the bowl.

Turn around lightly on a floured surface. Knead gently 1/2 minute or so. Roll to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter or an upside-down glass.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
