Chunk squash to make a gallon Add 3 chopped onions 2 chopped bell peppers 3 garlic buttons 1 lg. hot pepper Pour 1 cup salt over all of it, stir, cover with chopped ice and let stand for 3 hours, then drain and rinse. Then add 5 cups sugar, 3 cups white vinegar, 2 teaspoon mustard seed, 1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, 1 small jar pimentos, put over mixture. Bring to a boil 1 minute, then put in jars and seal. Makes 9 pints. |
