ORANGE BUNDT CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
4 c. flour
1 1/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. chopped dates
3 tbsp. grated orange rind

GLAZE:

2 c. sugar
1 c. orange juice
3 tbsp. grated orange rind

Cream shortening and sugar; beat in eggs. Add flour, buttermilk and soda alternately; mix well. Add dates, orange rind and pecans; mix. Pour in bundt or tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 250 degrees and bake for about 1 hour or until done.

GLAZE: Dissolve sugar in orange juice; add grated rind; pour over hot cake; leave in pan until cool.
