VIRGINIA'S CANNED PIE APPLES 
Peel apples and slice as for pie. To each gallon of apples, add 1 cup sugar and let set overnight. Next day, pack in quart jars using juice, too. Process in hot water bath for 20 minutes.

When you make pie, 1 quart to one 9-inch pie crust. Add about 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon flour, plus favorite spices. Cover with top crust and bake as usual.
