CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. brownulated brown sugar (brown sugar that pours)
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. shortening
2 tbsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 1/2 c. unbleached flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. nuts or sunflower seeds (optional)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl combine first 6 ingredients; blend well. Stir in flour, soda and salt; blend well. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts; mix well.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until light golden brown.
