CHRISTMAS BREAD 
2 tbsp. dry yeast
2 c. warm water
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cardamom
1/4 c. vegetable oil
Approximately 6 1/2 c. white flour
1/4 c. raisins, puffed
1/4 c. candied fruit
1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water; add 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 of the flour, let proof. Sift rest of flour with cardamom and 2 tablespoons sugar, over raisins, fruit and nuts. Beat eggs with salt and remaining warm water plus oil.

Combine egg and yeast mixture, stir and knead in flour until dough is not sticky. Let rise in buttered bowl until double. Knead down and place in greased loaf pan, ring or other pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until sounds hollow. Frost, if desired. Makes 2 loaves.
