BUTTERSCOTCH COOKIES 
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda

Cream sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla. Add flour, soda, cream of tartar and nuts. Work until soft dough. Chill 3 hours.

Work in enough flour to roll out. Cut in desired shapes or roll dough in small balls and press out with a floured fork onto a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes until done.
