HONEY NUT BREAD 
2 tbsp. butter or vegetable shortening
1 c. honey
1 egg, well beaten
Grated rind of 2 orange
2 1/2 c. whole wheat pastry flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. chopped walnuts
3/4 c. orange juice

Cream shortening. Stir in honey and mix well. Add egg and orange rind; beat until creamy.

Mix and sift whole wheat flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add walnuts. Add flour mixture and orange juice alternately to creamed shortening and honey. Bake in a greased oven proof glass loaf pan at 350 degrees F. for approximately 1 hour. Yield 1 loaf.
