HAMBURGER-VEGETABLE SOUP 
Heat in large kettle:

1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped onions

Brown and add:

1 c. sliced carrots
1 c. shredded cabbage
1 c. cut up potatoes
1 c. sliced celery
4 c. water
2 cans tomatoes
1/2 c. rice

Season with:

Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. thyme

Mix well and bring to boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
