MINESTRONE SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. cubed raw potato
1/2 c. celery, sliced
1 sm. bay leaf
1/2 tsp. basil leaves
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 (15 1/2 oz.) can red beans
1 c. onion, chopped
1 c. cubed raw carrot
1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
1/2 tsp. thyme leaves
5 tsp. salt
1 1/2 qt. water
Spaghetti

Cook beef with onion until slightly browned; add potato, carrot, celery, and tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Sprinkle in broken spaghetti; add bay leaf, thyme, basil, salt, pepper, and water. Cover and simmer 1 hour. Add beans last 15 minutes. To serve, sprinkle with cheese.
