TIN CAN ICE CREAM 
1 c. white milk
1 egg
1 c. whipping cream
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Fruit, nuts or flavoring extracts (optional)
Rock salt or Halite approximately 1 1/2 c.
Crushed ice

Put all ingredients in a 1 lb. coffee can with tight fitting lid. Put lid on can, put can inside a 3 pound coffee can. Pack 3 pound can with crushed ice around the 1 pound can. Pour 3/4 cup rock salt evenly over ice. Put lid on 3 pound can. Roll back and forth on flat surface for 10 minutes (get the kids to help).

Open 3 pound can, remove 1 pound can and stir ingredients with spatula. Replace lid on 1 pound can, drain, and repack large can with ice and salt. Roll another 5 minutes more. About 3 cups.
