MONSIGNOR'S PEPPER STEAKS | |
1 lb. sirloin or round steak 2 tbsp. olive oil 1/4 c. chopped onion 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 tsp. salt 1 dash pepper 1 beef bouillon cube 1 c. hot water 1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes 1 lg. green pepper, sliced 1/4 c. cold water 2 tbsp. cornstarch 2 tbsp. soy sauce Cut meat into small strips. Brown meat slowly in hot oil (about 1 5 minutes). Add the onion and garlic the last few minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Dissolve bouillon in a cup of hot water. Add to the meat. Cover and simmer until the meat is almost tender (20-25 minutes). Add tomatoes and green peppers and cook 10 minutes longer. Combine remaining ingredients and stir into the meat. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly for 5 minutes longer. Serve over rice. Yields 4 servings. |
