PEACH OR APPLE COBBLER 
1 stick butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sifted self rising flour or add 4 tsp. baking powder and 1 tsp. salt to reg. flour
1/2 c. butter Crisco
2 c. finely chopped peaches or apples
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. In a saucepan, heat sugar and water until sugar is melted. Cut shortening into flour mixture with fork until crumbly. Add milk and stir with fork only until dough leaves sides of bowl. Turn out onto a lightly floured area. Knead just until smooth. Roll dough into large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle cinnamon over fruit. Mix well and sprinkle evenly over dough.

Roll up like jelly roll. Dampen edges with a little water and seal. Slice into about 16 slices, 1/2 thick. Place in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar syrup carefully around slices. (This looks like too much but crust will absorb it all.) Bake for 55-60 minutes. EXCELLENT WITH COOL WHIP OR VANILLA ICE CREAM!!
