LISA G'S APPLE COBBLER
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. milk
2 c. finely chopped apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In a saucepan heat sugar and water until sugar melts. Cut shortening into flour until it is crumbly. Add milk and stir with fork only until dough leaves the side of bowl. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth.

Roll dough into a large rectangle, 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples. Sprinkle apples over dough. Roll up dough like a jelly roll. Dampen the edge of dough and seal. Slice dough into 16 slices.

Place in pan with melted butter. Pour sugar water mixture over rolls. It is not too much liquid! Bake for 45 minutes. Serve warm. Peaches can be used for apples. Omit cinnamon.
