ITALIAN CREAM CAKE | |
1 stick butter 1/2 c. vegetable shortening 2 c. sugar 5 egg yolks 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts 1 c. coconut 5 egg whites Cream together butter, shortening, sugar and egg yolks. Sift flour and soda; add to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk, adding flour first and last. Stir in vanilla, nuts and coconut. Beat egg whites and fold in. Bake in three 9 inch pans at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Frost with cream cheese icing. |
