ARDELL'S "OATMEAL CAKE" 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. quick oatmeal
1 stick butter
1 c. white granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. cake flour or 1 1/3 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Preheat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, pour boiling water over oats and butter. Cover; let stand 20 minutes. Then add white and brown sugar. Blend in eggs, flour, salt, cinnamon, baking soda and nutmeg. Cream well. Pour in 9 x 13-inch greased and floured pan.

Bake 35 minutes.

Topping:

6 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 c. white granulated sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 c. coconut (Angel Flake)
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together and spread on hot baked cake. Place under broiler for a few minutes. Caution: Topping burns easily!
