GREAT GRANDMA LEE'S OATMEAL
COOKIES
 
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. flour (may use up to 3/4 c. whole wheat)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
1 c. flaked coconut
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream sugars, shortening and eggs until well blended. Add oatmeal, flour, soda and salt. Add milk. Stir in coconut and chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets, pressing lightly to flatten. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
