ROAST BEEF WITH TOMATO GRAVY | |
2 to 3 lb. English or chuck roast 1 med. onion 1 lg. can tomato sauce 1/2 c. sugar Salt and pepper to taste Place roast in large baking dish. Salt and pepper to taste. Peel and slice onion thinly to cover roast. Pour tomato sauce over all to cover. Sprinkle 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar over sauce. Cover and bake 3 to 4 hours in 325 degree oven. Add liquid if necessary. When done, remove meat to warm platter. Use the sauce as is over mashed potatoes or thicken if you desire. This is a family favorite. |
