CARAMEL CAKE | |
2 sticks butter 2 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 1/2 c. plain flour, sifted 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour, sifted 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Cream butter and sugar well. Add one egg at a time. Sift flour 3 times. Add flour and milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla. Grease 4 cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. ICING: 2 c. white sugar 1 c. light brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. corn syrup 1 1/2 c. evaporated milk 2 sticks butter Get all lumps out of brown sugar. Combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring often. Cook to soft ball stage. Cool slightly. Beat until right consistency to spread. |
